🎥 Apple Tv+’s Ted Lasso
As unofficial Ted Lasso kindness ambassador, we’re happy to unveil Apple Tv+’s sneak peek of this week’s new episode of Ted Lasso HERE (Substack to embed videos, when).
It’s Christmas time in Richmond! Season 2 Episode 4, Carol of the Bells, will warm your heart as viewers see Rebecca enlist Ted for a secret mission. Roy (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley (Juno Temple) search for a miracle as Higgins (Jeremy Swift) graciously opens up the Higgins family home. The critically acclaimed dramedy gets better and better, don’t miss out on a new weekly episode every Friday exclusively on Apple Tv +.
🎥 Apple Tv+’s Mr. Corman
Also unveiling a brand new sneak peek clip from the third episode of Mr. Corman, titled Happy Birthday, which premiers this Friday, August 13th.
We see Josh struggle with finding happiness and meaning after his breakup; anxiously mixed up, he consequently deals with the aftermath of comparing God to a pretend mouse to a child. Watch the sneak peek HERE, but watch it all go down exclusively on Apple Tv+.
🎥 IFC Films’ Dating & New York
I was fortunate enough to see Dating & New York during Tribeca Film Festival; the film is Jonah Feingold’s love letter to New York City. Except, instead of a physical love letter, it’s more of a love text since it’s set in 2021, complete with mise-en-scène and a craving for fall. It’s New York; we’ll always have neuroticism and romance.
Dating & New York stars Jaboukie Young-White, Francesca Reale, Catherine Cohen, Brian Muller, and Jerry Ferrara; the film opens in select theaters and VOD/Digital on September 10th.
🎥 Greenwich Entertainment’s The Big Scary ‘S’ Word
Featuring new and archival interviews with Cornel West, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Naomi Klein, The Big Scary “S” Word explores the rich history of the American socialist movement from Yael Bridge (producer of Saving Capitalism).
Piecing historical and verité footage, the documentary sees that contrary to the vilified historical beliefs, socialism is deeply American.
It’s led to popular government programs such as public schools and Medicare. Activists and journalists explain how the 2008 financial crisis, the Wall Street bailout, the Occupy Movement, and the latest throng of Liberal politicians like Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have pushed a new generation to embrace Americanized socialism.
The Big Scary “S” Word will be released in theaters and Digital/On-Demand on September 3rd, perfect for responsibly masked family festivities over Labor Day Weekend.
🎥 DreamWorks’ Spirit Untamed
Because we all know a horse girl (for me it’s my niece); Spirit Untamed is a story of all ages. A beautifully animated tale of adventure, family, and friendship with free-spirited Lucky Prescott moving to Miradero to join her estranged father.
She’s decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy town until she discovers a unique tie to her late mother, a fearless horse-riding stunt performer. She quickly forms a bond with a wild mustang named Spirit and makes two new pals who love horses as much as she does. When a heartless wrangler plans to capture Spirit and his herd, Lucky and her friends set off on an epic journey to rescue the horse who has given her an unbreakable connection to her mother’s legacy. Spirit Untamed is out on Digital August 17 and on Blu-ray™/DVD August 31st from Universal pictures.
🎥 Roku Original’ Eye Candy
Throughout this pandemic, I’ve been watching shows like Super Market Sweep and other silly and entertaining shows during these dark times is just the right amount of escape we all deserve.
Roku® is bringing Eye Candy, a confectionary competition series based on the hit Japanese game show Sokkuri Sweets. Produced by Nippon TV, the series puts teams of celebrities and civilians together as they attempt to identify outrageous edible creations designed to look like ordinary everyday objects.
Celebrity guests of the series include Jamie Chung, Bryan Greenberg, Michelle Buteau, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Tiki Barber, Melissa Gorga, Caroline Manzo, Jeremy Jordan, Bridget Everett, Nico Tortorella, Aparna Nancherla, Nina Agdal, and Michael Ian Black.
In a statement, Eye Candy host, Josh Groban says, “I first saw this show in Japan when it was called Sokkuri Sweets and was obsessed with how fun and silly it was. To be the ringmaster of such insanity is a dream. Bon Appétit.” ‘Winner Tastes All’ later this August on Roku®.
Keeping it short and sweet with this bonus Trailer Round-Up, which reminds us that our Ted Lasso review is coming soon— we’ve been waiting for just the perfect moment to discuss the fantastic new season. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and we embrace that, but the time has come.
